Wanda E McKinney

Wanda E. McKinney, 61, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, following a recurring illness.

A lifelong resident of Carter County she was the daughter of the late Jim Hughes and Della King Hughes. McKinney was a member at McCoury’s Rock Free Will Baptist Church in Seneca, and a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and painting.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Jeff A. McKinney, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Renee and Marshall Clark, Johnson City, Tenn.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott McKinney, Jonesborough, Tenn., James and Carrie McKinney, Seymour, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Carmalita Buchanan, Spruce Pine, and Jean Stofey, Elizabethton, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service for McKinney will be conducted 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel with the Rev. Don Stines and the Rev. Jimmy Hicks officiating. Music with be under the direction of Melody Trio, Gary & Pam Tolley, and Charlotte Smith. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 p.m. till the service hour. A committal and interment service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Richardson Cemetery in the Shell Creek Community. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers are neighbors and friends. Everyone is asked to meet the family at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
