AMS splits pair of conference games

Both AMS basketball teams split a pair of conference games this week. The week began with Avery hosting Cane River on Monday, Nov. 26. The girls lost with a close score of 28-22. The boys had a much better game than the girls. The Panthers beat Cane River with a score of 43-30.
On Thursday, Nov. 29, the teams traveled to East Yancey. The Lady Panthers won the game 25-11. The boys’ team was not as successful in the game against East Yancey. The team lost 44-21.
AMS returns to action this week when both teams travel to Bowman on Monday, Dec. 3. The teams will host hometown rival Cranberry on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Avery High School. The games begin at 5 p.m.
Cranberry middle school will travel to East Yancey on Monday, Dec. 3, for a conference match up beginning at 5 p.m. The teams will then travel to Avery for a 5 p.m. game on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Avery High School.
The final tournament is coming up soon. The tournament will be hosted by Cane River on Dec. 12, 13 and 15.
