Avery County Little League all-stars announced

Avery County Little League released its roster of players and coaches for its four district all-star teams last week.
The county's 11- and 12-year-old boys baseball all-stars are comprised of Max Brown, Josh Cook, Cody Daniels, Jacob Daniels, Ethan Hampton, Deacon Heath, Caleb Hicks, Lane Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Nicklous Johnson, Jordan Lecka, Josh McClellan and Carter Smith. Caleb Pritchard was also selected to the club, but is unable to play.
Bill Daniels, David Cook and Jordan McClellan will be coaching the 11- and 12-year-old division that opens district play at Wilkes American on Saturday, June 30.
Avery's 9- and 10-year-old baseball all-stars are comprised of Lucas Andrews, Briley Austin, A.J. Ayers, Chandler Berry, Chase Gilliam, Noah Hartley, Harrison Horney, Blake Manning, Seth Moody, Drew Polsgrove, Hunter Poteat, James Russ, Ty Smith and Austin Waldroup. The coaches of the team are Martin Horney, Jessie Gilliam and Rob Russ. The 9- and 10-year-old team opens play at Hodge Turbyfill Baseball Complex in Newland against Watauga American on Wednesday, June 27.
In softball, the 11- and 12-year-old softball roster includes Macayla Benfield, Veronica Clark, Gracie Cook, Faith Daniels, Zoe Daniels, Paige Garland, Cassie Harris, Libby Phillips, Leah Ricker, Jaden Ross, Emily Smith, Hailey Vance and Tasha Vance. The team is coached by Paul Harris, Robert Garland, Mike Ricker and Dale Cook. The team opens district tournament play at home against Wilkes National on Friday, June 29.
Avery Little League's 9- and 10-year-old softball all-stars are made up of Haven Cable, Lila Cantrell, Faith Daniels, Adrian Holtsclaw, Ariel Horney, Emia James, Jada Jemaro, Ellie Kitchin, Melanie McKinney, Heaven Nelson, Shardon Rose and Tayrn Ulery. Avery's 9- and 10-year-old club is coached by Mitchell McKinney and Stanley Nelson and opens district competition at home with a game against Watauga on Thursday, June 28.
