Avery baseball falls at North Wilkes, Owen

Jamie Shell / (

Avery baseball continues to battle the elements and its opponents as the club seeks its first victory of 2013. The conference-opening contest scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, against Owen was moved to Thursday, March 14. On Wednesday, March 13, however, AHS traveled to chilly Hays to take on North Wilkes in a non-conference matchup. Avery fought both the home team Vikings and wind chill temperatures near zero, falling by a 12-2 final score in five innings.

North built an early 5-0 advantage through two innings and limited Avery to just four hits in the contest.
