Avery wrestling completed its regular season last week with a dual-meet showdown at home against Mitchell and earned a second-place team finish with two conference champions at last week’s Western Highlands Conference tournament at Owen High School on Friday, Jan. 31.

Mitchell 43, Avery 22

Avery Vikings wrestling sought to cap its conference dual-meet season with a championship victory on Senior Night against Mitchell at Viking Gym on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Mitchell came out strong and picked up a number of early wins to build a lead Avery was unable to overcome, as Mitchell clinched a regular-season championship with a 43-22 road win.

The Vikings began the evening with honoring its five seniors prior to the duals. Avery’s Brennan Clark, Ty Franklin, Zac Freeman, Josh Gragg and Blake Johnson were recognized for their contributions to the Avery wrestling program.
