LMC Bobcats sports roundup

Staff reports / (

Six student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Lees-McRae College and play women's soccer in fall 2014, LMC women's soccer coach Nick Whiting announced Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Joining the Bobcats in the fall will be Leanne McAlexander, Leah Osenga, Julie Perkins, Savannah Rees, Natalie Shuman and Sydney Varney.
"We are so excited to welcome this 2014 class to our program," Whiting said. "They are a tremendous group of young women that are going to bring so much to our program and to LMC. This is a very blue collar group who is going to strive to be successful in everything they do and I am proud that they are going to be a part of the Bobcat family.
"We lose a talented group of seniors who have meant a ton to our program, but I know that this group is ready to come in and help fill that void. I'd also like to thank our assistant coach, Brittany Downs, for her tireless efforts helping recruit this talented class."
"We can't wait to welcome our newest batch of Bobcats to the team. We have improved our depth greatly with this class and that is only going to make our team even stronger," Downs said. "They are talented, hard working and going to be great assets to our program."
