Lady Wildcats softball comes up short at chilly Cane River

During a week of horrendous weather, one of the few teams to complete any contests in Avery County sports was the Cranberry Middle School Lady Wildcats. The club traveled to Yancey County to tangle with the Cane River Lady Rebels. CRMS was a tough opponent to take down, however, as it defeated Cranberry on Thursday, March 28, by an 18-3 final score in three innings.

CMS scored three runs in the top of the first inning to grab an early lead, but a couple of running errors cost the team additional runs and a larger advantage.
