Despite less-than-ideal weather conditions, Mayland Community College Foundation held its Drive for the Green Golf Tournament at Linville Golf Club on Friday, May 3, in conjunction with the Tastes and Tees on the Green event held the prior day at the Pavilion at Camp Yonahnoka in Linville.
Tastes and Tees on the Green featured food from The Best Cellar, Smoky Mountain Bakers, The Smoking Goat, Foxfire Downtown, Vance Toe River Lodge and Blind Squirrel Brewery.
The foursome of Mike McMahan, Tim Spence, Larry McDaniel and Mike Muscat won the Drive for the Green scramble format and $100 gift certificates. The team of Sam Ray, Justin Ray, John Thompson and Jimmy 'Buzz' Ollis finished second and earned $75 gift certificates. Third place went to the team of Ed Thomas, Adam Bartlett, Lee Pickler and David Smith, who each earned $50 gift certificates.
