Paffrath-Hyatte named new Mitchell women's hoops head coach

Mitchell High School has announced Emily Paffrath-Hyatte has been hired as new Mitchell Lady Mountaineers varsity head basketball coach.

Paffrath-Hyatte replaces Dawn Lowe, who retired after nine seasons at the helm for the Lady Mountaineers, which included a regional finals appearance in 2009-10.

Paffrath-Hyatte is a MHS alumnus, having starred as a basketball player for the Lady Mountaineers as a member of the school's 2A state championship squad in 2003. Paffrath-Hyatte was Western North Carolina Player of the Year following that season, and went on to play college basketball at Wingate University, where she tallied more than 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in an accomplished collegiate career.
