Pair of WHC coaches step down from head coaching positions

Western Highlands Conference football was abuzz with activity in the past couple of weeks, and the first day of fall practice is still more than six months away.
Mitchell High School head football coach Russell Barnett, as well as Polk County head coach Bruce Ollis, each announced their resignations from their respective schools last week, altering the coaching landscape within the Western Highlands Conference.
Barnett’s record with the Mountaineers was 35-52 in seven seasons. The Mountaineers set a school record for single-season victories in 2011 with 12, but have endured back-to-back one-win seasons since then, including a 1-11 mark last fall..
