Varsity boys hoops comes up one point short at Mitchell

Following the emotional high of a home upset in its home finale the previous week against Mountain Heritage, Avery looked to roll past the Mitchell Mountaineers in Ledger on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Mitchell had other plans, however, as it led for much of the way and narrowly defeated the Vikings 51-50 in Western Highlands Conference action.
The teams played closely throughout the first half. Mitchell held a 14-11 lead after one quarter and maintained the same three-point margin at 24-21 at halftime.
